Traditional Dancing

The Morobe Show is renowned for presenting one of the most spectacular displays of traditional dancing in Papua New Guinea. Every year, thousands of visitors gather to witness an extraordinary celebration of the country’s rich cultural heritage through vibrant costumes, music, dance and storytelling.

Held on Sunday following the Official Opening Ceremony, the Traditional Dancing Festival—known locally as the Sing Sing—features an incredible showcase of cultural groups from across Papua New Guinea. Between 1,500 and 2,000 performers proudly represent their provinces, creating the largest and most diverse gathering of traditional dance groups found anywhere in the country.

Each performance offers a unique insight into the customs, history and traditions of Papua New Guinea’s many cultures. Every year, visitors are treated to the rare opportunity of seeing groups and performances that are seldom seen in public, making every Morobe Show a truly unique cultural experience.

Whether you are a first-time visitor or a regular attendee, the Sing Sing is widely regarded as one of the highlights of the Morobe Show and is an unforgettable experience for photographers, families and cultural enthusiasts alike.
