HORTICULTURE & FLORICULTURE COUNCILLOR – Ruby Yamuna

  • Horticulture focuses on crops such as fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants.
  • Floriculture focuses on decorative horticulture related to the growing, selling, and arranging of flower and ornamental plants.

Anyone can enter their flowers into the Horticulture Displays section in the Horticulture Pavilion in the Morobe Show Ground or enter their Stall Display which is to be located in the Greg English Agriculture, Floriculture and Horticulture Area of the Showgrounds. Significant Cash Prizes are on offer for successful exhibitors and especially the Childrens section. If you have anything that you have grown that looks good – bring it along to the Show at 8.00 am on the Saturday morning of the Show and “Show It Off”. Remember Lae is PNG’s Garden City.

LIMIT OF TWO (2) ENTRIES PER SECTION PER EXHIBITOR.

REGULATIONS

  • The Show Society will supply 2 day passes. One for Saturday and One for Sunday as part of your registration plus one free.
  • All entries must be in the hands of the Stewards by 4pm Friday prior to the Show.
  • All entries must have exhibit cards obtained from the Stewards attached to the bottles with a rubber band.
  • All entries are to remain in the Horticultural Pavilion until 2.00 pm Sunday and can be collected then if the Exhibitor wishes.
  • The Judges decision will be final and there is no process for appeal.
  • A CASH prize will be awarded for 1st & 2nd place ONLY plus a Certificate.
  • CASH PRIZES CAN BE COLLECTED FROM THE SHOW SECRETARIES OFFICE. FROM 10am to 12 noon SUNDAY.
  • All exhibits must be of show standard. All stewards have the right to refuse entries that are  of poor quality.
  • The Show Society will provide containers for all entries except for large Heliconias, Gingers and decorative shrub.s
  • Entrants for Judging are allowed a maximum of 2 entries per category.
  • Entries must not exceed ½ (half) a meter in height.
  • Entrants must ensure that all entries are stable.
  • No entry items, floral art or wreaths are to be sold until 12 noon on Sunday.Note:

If you require any extra day passes make sure you purchase them at the discount rate K10 per Adult and K7 per Child by 2.00 pm Friday 6th Ocotober.

All exhibits should be conditioned to last the duration of the Show.
